erro . is an ongoing tactical transmedia musicking project by composer-engineer Alberto Barberis and musician-saxophonist Bera Romairone, which aims to contribute to foster a social reflection on the biopolitical consequences of pursuing computational efficiency, in every aspect of contemporary reality, through algorithmization and error-minimization
erro . proposes an algorithm bending practice for computer mixed-music creation and digitally augmented instrumental performance: an act of artistic-resistance, music-activism and algorithmic sabotage in the era of post-coding, numerical integralism (Sadin, 2023), pastorate digitalized (Stypinska, 2024), social engineering (Tanni, 2023), machine bias (Broussard, 2024), algorithmic violence (Bellanova, Rocco et al., 2021), etc.
erro . considers errors as crucial for a “free and rational human agency” (Lavin, 2004) thanks to their opportunity to “look behind the façade and to comprehend mechanisms in systems” (Schubert, 2019), “to analyze how our ostensibly ‘new’ and ‘better’ media break, revealing new insights at their seams” (Kane, 2019), and to “dethrone the illusion of perfection” (Bovalino, 2024) and its commodification in the context of an hyper-rationalised cyber capitalism (Horizon, 2021)
